Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Havana
Tour participants arrive to Havana throughout the day. Your included airport arrival transfer will take you the arrival point, which is La Gargola Hostal in Old Havana. Many of the group participants will stay here. Others will stay in the nearby and recently renovated Casa D Osbe. Your tour guide will meet with those that have already arrived, at 7pm. An optional group dinner in a nearby local restaurant follows. Since some travellers might arrive later at night, the first official group meeting
Day 2 – Trinidad – via Santa Clara
We travel via the historic city of Santa Clara on the way to Trinidad. In Santa Clara we make a visit to the Che Guevara Museum. We eventually reach Trinidad where we will stay in the Hostal Vivian and Pablo, or similar.
Day 3 – Trinidad
Today is a free day to choose activities that most suit your personal preferences. Your guide will help you arrange these and suggest and recommend activities. Often the group decides to do a day trip together, such as a short trek to a waterfall, a visit to the nearby beach, or a city tour with an expert local guide.
Day 4 – Cienfuegos
Today is only a short drive to Cienfuegos, which is a very different city, in both appearance and character, to Trinidad. The most notable features are the elegant city layout with a wide boulevard that runs along the bay, and pleasant pedestrian zones that connect to the impressive main square surrounded by stately buildings.
Day 5 – Vinales via Bay of Pigs
Today we travel along the Caribbean coastline past the historic site of the Bay of Pigs, through the Zapata swamplands, until reaching the valley of Vinales. There are some great spots along the Bay of Pigs for a swim in the normally tranquil waters where snorkelling is a recommended option. Vinales has a relaxed, country atmosphere, and a nice place to reach after a long travel day.
Day 6 – Vinales
This morning we include a walking tour of the agricultural part of the Vinales Valley that is listed by UNESCO as an area of heritage cultural landscape. During the walk we will visit a tobacco farm and learn from the farmer about the traditional ways this famous Cuban crop is grown and harvested. In the evening we include a visit to an organic farm with a fantastic view of the valley. It’s here where we watch the sunset and have dinner in the farm homestead, which has actually quickly become one of Cuba’s most highly rated restaurants.
Day 7 – Havana
We return to the capital and to our guesthouses in Old Havana. In the afternoon your guide will take you on a tour of Havana in classic American 50’s convertible cars. Some of the places this takes us to is the Revolution Square and along 5th Avenue where many of Havana’s mansions built in the 50’s are located.
Day 8 – Havana
Today’s included activity is a walking tour of Old Havana. The guide will present some options to the group for the last evening of the tour for the last night together as a group.
