The founding of Graff Diamonds in 1960 by Laurence Graff marked the start of an astonishing journey spanning over five decades. Throughout its rich history, Graff is said to have handled more diamonds of notable rarity and beauty than any other jeweller, and to this day continues to inspire and excite the world’s most discerning clientèle.
An avid collector of modern and contemporary art, a world leader within the diamond industry and an equally devoted philanthropist, Laurence Graff opened the doors to Delaire Graff Estate in 2009. Having transformed the Estate into an extraordinary luxury destination – The Jewel of the Cape Winelands – nestled in the heart of South Africa’s Stellenbosch Valley.

In 2013 a very special painting was returned home to South Africa and Delaire Graff Estate. One of the most iconic pieces of the 20th Century – and the first piece of art to inspire a lifelong passion in Laurence Graff – guests can view Vladimir Tretchikoff’s iconic Chinese Girl, currently on display in the entrance to our main building.

The combination of Maritime and mountain is a very unique terroir, and here in Stellenbosch it creates our award-winning Delaire Graff wines. A cooling Atlantic sea breeze washes over our steeply sloping vineyards giving us a rich intensity of fruit. Delaire Graff wines rank among the most prestigious in the Southern Hemisphere. The unique terroir, on the crest of the panoramic Helshoogte Mountain Pass, is something our ambitious winemaker explores harvest after harvest. A long, slow ripening season ensures world-class clarets and red wines big in structure with soft tannins and elegance. The white wines capture the freshness of the harvest, while irresistible rosé and a sparkling Brut completes an elegantly balanced portfolio. They are proud to have achieved First Growth status in South Africa – reward for creating our country’s most desirable wines on first pressing.

As a working winery, come and discover a taste of the Cape Winelands, see their passion for producing some of South Africa’s finest wines and let welcoming sommeliers and wine tutors pour you something delicious to enjoy. There’s plenty to taste – from illustrious reds and whites to sparkling wine and delightful rosé, crafted from vine to bottle with the expert hands of our winemaker, Morné Vrey. Discover their bespoke Wine Lounge to enjoy these award-winning wines in their most opulent setting. Designed with a stunning copper roof and full-length glass walls, traditional dry packed stone and oak-trussed ceilings make way for an expansive traditional teak floor. Lionel Smit’s African Woman and collaborative work by Robert Hodgins, William Kentridge and Deborah Bell create a truly sophisticated setting.
The Wine Lounge
The Wine Lounge is our welcoming art-filled tasting space and an elegant retreat in which to to relax over a glass of Delaire Graff wine. Lacquered floors lead out to floor to ceiling windows that frame our famous view. The perfect place to relax in summer is our outside terrace, or spend winter inside with a crackling fire.
